The Kpone Katamanso Municipal Factory Inspection Directorate has urged companies under its jurisdiction to at all times adhere to and maintain high operational safety protocols to avoid industrial accidents.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Kpone, Mr. Samuel Adjetey Boye, the Municipal Director, Department of Factory Inspectorate said as part of its duties, the factory inspection directorate exists to ensure companies within its operational areas upheld the safety of their employees in high esteem.
Mr. Boye noted that safety at the worksite was not the responsibility of one person, adding that employers, employees, and the government must ensure everyone is safe at the workplace.
According to him, the existence of the directorate within the municipality has aided in reducing industrial accidents within the enclave.
The Municipal Factory Inspectorate Director explained that factories that do not adhere to the safety protocols could be prosecuted saying that every operational company needed to have a professional safety officer to ensure the right things were always done.
Mr. Boye appealed to the government and other relevant stakeholders to support the factory inspection directorate in Kpone with some planning.
He said the area it covered was vast and it was important they got some vehicles to enhance their operations within their authority.
The Kpone Katamanso Municipal Factory Inspection Directorate presides over some five Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) within the Eastern Corridor namely: Kpone-Katamanso, Shai-Osudoku, Ningo-Prampram, Ada West, and Ada East District Assemblies.
The directorate is a subsidiary of the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.
