NF-(Michel Camp)- One Hundred bed capacity dormitory has been commissioned for use by Junior Officers at the 1st Battalion of Infantry (1BN) Michel Camp, of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality.
Speaking at a short event to commission the facility, Major General Thomas Oppong -Peprah Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Ghana Army expressed gratitude to his colleague’s military officers for the support given him since he took over as the Chief of Army Staff in Ghana.
Major General Oppong-Peprah stated that the 100-bed capacity edifice would serve as a game changer for young officers who would be accommodated within the confines of the 1st Battalion of Infantry in Michel Camp.
The Chief of Army Staff further explained that the edifice would help reduce the accommodation deficit in the military barracks.
According to the Major General military officers most especially Junior officers needed to have a decent place to lay their heads when in active service hence the need to put up the edifice at Michel camp
He said Junior officer’s proximity to their command would enable them to respond to urgent calls from their superiors were necessary.
The Chief of the Ghana Army Staff again assured that the Barracks Regeneration Project in Michel Camp was progressing steadily saying the project have some 16 units 2 bed rooms semi-detached blocks with other ancillaries which according to him would be able to accommodate about 32 families of the 1BN combatants.
He also expressed profound gratitude to some private business moguls who sponsored the project to build the dormitory for the junior soldiers at the 1st Battalion of Infantry.
Lieutenant Colonel Simeone Barifa Nyante Commanding Officer 1st Battalion of Infantry Michel Camp assured that the edifice would be put to use saying maintenance and discipline would be the key ethics for officers who would be accommodated in the dormitory.
Lt. Colonel Nyante further stated that days where Military officers would have to commute from far places to their duty post would be a thing of the past.
He however, admonished the general public to be conscious of their security as the yuletide approaches, adding that living in a peaceful environment with one another was very healthy.
The 100 beds Capacity dormitory have restrooms, washrooms Bunk beds amongst other ancillaries.
