The Tema Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has nabbed an alleged rapist from his hideout in Kakasunanka no.1 a community in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The suspect Dordzi Dzidefo was believed to be a motorbike operator who on the 13th July 2021 robbed and raped a female victim who had hired his service from Kakasunanka no1. To Golf City within the same municipality.
In a press statement signed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwesi Ofori, Director General, Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service and copied to the newsfarmgh.com in Tema, stated that criminals could run but could not hide forever.
The Statement continued to say that, Dordzi Dzidifo whilst on the way to the victim’s destination at about 12:00 midnight took a different route under the pretext of evading police Checkpoint but ended up robbing and rapping the victim at knife point.
The Police report further revealed that the suspect after his escapade cashed out an amount of ghs 247.00 from the victim’s mobile money wallet on the 16th of July 2021.
According to the Police, the suspect was arrested on 1st November 2021 at his hideout in Kakasunanka no.1 through a sustained intelligence -led operation by the Tema police Command under the directives of the Tema Regional Police Commander Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Barima Tweneboah Sasraku II.
Dordzi Dzidefo have been arraigned before court whilst holistic investigations are currently ongoing to unravel whether the crime was committed with some possible accomplices the police statement hinted.
