Some concern elected Assembly Members in the Greater Accra Region has expressed their grave displeasure to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo over what the claim was undue delay in appointing Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) as required by the 1992 constitution of Ghana.

In a statement signed by the Convenor of the group, Mr Musah Ziyad, sighted by Newsfarmgh.com stated that, the unprecedented delay by the President in appointing his MMDCEs was affecting development at the local governance level.

The Statement further noted that, never in the history of the fourth republic of Ghana has any government delayed the appointment of MMDCEs nine (9) months into its administration.

According to the statement the concern elected Assembly Members explained that they have accommodated the gross incompetent of the Ruling Government for a long time, and it was time the President named the MMDCEs to man the 260 Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the country.

They noted that pursuant to article 243(1) of the 1992 constitution and Section 20(1) of the local Government act. 2016 (act. 936) appointment of MMDCEs remained the sole prerogative of the president.
