NF-(Kpone)-Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the Kpone Community Senior High school in the Kpone Katamanso municipality of the Greater Accra Region has organised a fund raising ceremony in aid of building a fence wall around the school.

The kpone Community school which remains the only public Secondary within the entire municipality have been encroached by residents whereas students also flee the school to town without permission a situation which authorities say accounted for the poor performance in the 2020 WASSCE exams.

Delivering a key note Adress at the event, Mr.Wiafe Akenten, headmaster for the school noted that it has become imparative that the school built a fence wall to protect the students and the school from encroachers and criminals.
He added that, few years ago some properties were stollen from the school creating some form of insecurity in the school.

Mr Akenten streesed that, the governing board of the school in collaboration with the PTA had to put in plans to restored sanity back to the school, hence the need to construct the fence wall to prevent student from leaving the school premises without authorisation.
He mentioned that students indiscipline accounted for the abysmal performance of the school in the 2020 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Mr. Harry Evans Arthur kpone katamanso Municipal Education Director, stated that it was part of his vision to fence all public schools within the kpone Katamanso Municipality to ensure school properties and student were at all times safe from unscrupulous people.

Mr. Arthur further advised that, student must take their studies very serious saying the kpone community school have been degraded from grade A’ to grade ‘D’ something he said could be avoided.

According to him the school would no more be a walk way for criminals and encrochers within the community with a call on parents to contribute their quota to ensure the fence wall was contructed.

Ms Martha Quaow, final year home economics student expressed gratitude to the PTA and other stakeholders for their benevolent gesture towards the development of the Kpone Community Senior High school. She assured that, the students would perform very well in the on going WASSCE examination saying the kpone Community High Schools would return to grade ‘A’ School again.

The PTA have estimated ghc 600,000.00 as cost for the fence wall covering about 19 acre of land where the community day school is sited.

Present at the occasion were the Paramount Chief of Kpone, Nii Tetteh Otu II, Municipal Chief Executive Mr.Solomon Tettey Appiah, Member of Parliament for the area Mr. Joseph Akuerteh Tettey.

Eight other PTA Committee members were inaugurated to facilitate the project.
