NF-(Fiankonya)-The Tei Appiakai Beniana family of Fiankonya at Dodowa in the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region has cautioned personnel from the Ghana police service to desist from what they alleged was a ploy to capture Beniana Family lands.

Speaking to the media in Fiankonya Amanfro,Numo Moses Beniana Mensah, head of Beniana family stated that, personnel from the Ghana Police Service continued to harass and intimidate residents of Fiankonya Amanfro to take over their lands.
Numo Beniana again alleged that, the police invaded the village in a Rambo style amidst shooting indiscriminately, arresting and intimidating residents including farmers to scare them off their lands.
He noted that, the issue had persisted for a very long time and it was imperative the country and the world at large got to know of the unlawful capture of Beniana family lands by personnel from the Ghana Police Service.
The family head explained that, the size of the land in contention was 1,173 acreage, adding that the police had taken about 1,000 acreage rendering some families homeless within the village.
Numo Beniana again alleged that, the Asanto Family also within the fiankonya enclave unlawfully sold the lands to a private estate developer Netas Properties and investment firm who in turn sold it out to the Police administration upon realizing the Asanto Family was not the owners of the land in question.
He opined that, water bodies, shrines and cemetery had all been encroached by the police saying the situation was unacceptable.

According to the family head, he received an invitation from the then (C.O.P) Mrs.Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo –Danquah,Director General in charge of welfare on 28th January 2021 for a meeting between the Police, the private firm and the Beniana family. He added that the Police ordered Netas Properties to settle the issue with the Beniana family, something he claimed Netas properties failed to comply with,’but the police went ahead to purchase the land without due diligence’ he wondered .
‘The land remained the toil of our ancestors and we will defend our lands from been taken away from us’ he explained.
